Swap-O-Rama-Rama

Do you have a bunch of old clothes laying around that you don’t know what to do with?  Bag them up and clear your thursday evening calendar because you need to get on over to Swap-O-Rama-Rama!

At Swap-O-Rama-Rama, everyone brings in bags of old, no longer wanted clothes.  You can dig through the communal pile for things to give a new home to and things to repurpose and give new life to.  There will be sewing machines available and people, including many members of make:Tulsa, to help you make your visions come to life.   In preparation for this event, the make:Tulsa members have been scouring craft books and the internet to come up with some fun and fast projects for you to try.  Last night I sat down and made a child’s hat out of a pair of old pajama pants.  It’s cute and it was fast!  In souring Pinterest, I learned that there were far more things that one could do with an old t-shirt than I ever imagined.  All you need is a little creativity and a few basic sewing supplies.  Since Philbrook is donating the supplies, you just need to bring the creativity.

This year Swap-O-Rama-Rama is being held as one of Philbrook’s Third Thursdays events.  Admission is free with a bag of clothes, so don’t forget to bring something to donate.

For other ideas on what kinds of things you can make with your old clothes (or someone else’s) check out this clip by channel 8 featuring make:Tulsa’s own Sam of Bohemian Romance and Holly of HollyRocks!

See you at Philbrook, this Thursday from 5:30 – 8:00pm!
